HD vs FHD vs 4K vs 8K | What are all these in LED TVs ?
HD
HD stands for High Definition. HD LED TV means a LED TV having a HD display with resolution of 720p (1280 x 720 pixels). HD TVs produce better picture quality than the standard definition(480p) televisions. However HD resolution is good for small screens, in large screens the image is not that much sharper. HD LED TVs often come with a tag “HD Ready”. HD Ready LED TVs are relatively cheaper than other higher versions and mostly of 32” size.
FHD
FHD stands for Full HD. Full HD LED TVs have a display resolution of 1080p (1920 X 1080 pixels). Full HD TVs produce more clear and sharper picture quality than HD TVs. Full HD display is mostly used in 40 Inch or 43 Inch LED TVs. These are a little more costly than HD TVs. But for that you get better image quality.
4K
It is otherwise known as Ultra HD or UHD. A 4K TV has a display resolution of 2160p (3840 X 2160 pixels). It gives four times the clarity of a standard HD LED TV. 4K TVs are good for gaming and streaming content. 55 Inch or larger screen TVs generally come with 4K resolution. These are costlier than Full HD LED TVs and prices differ according to screen sizes.
8K
8K means about 8000 pixels across the screen width. 8K TVs have display resolution of 4320p (7680 X 4320 pixels). These produce finest picture quality as compared to all other display resolutions available in the market. They require more hardware resources to run, so televisions with this resolution are very costly. Not only the TVs with this display resolution but also the content of the same resolution is needed to get the real 8K experience.
